The SVAN 977WM is identical in every way to the popular SVAN 977A except for the microphone which actually limits the high frequency performance of the 977A.  The 977WM preamplifier and body are capable of a high frequency cutoff of 44.4 KHz (-3 dB).  The WM stands for "Without Microphone".  The user just selects the microphone that suits their application and connects it to the 977WM - high frequency microphones for ultrasound applications and low sensitivity microphones for high level usage.  The 977WM is compatible with most standard pre-polarized condenser microphones including 1/2", 1/4", and 1/8" types.  Microphones smaller than 1/2" require a simple adapter.

The 977WM is a premium Class 1 sound level meter compliant with IEC 61672-1:2013.  It has a powerful digital signal processor (DSP) that allows it to compute three simultaneous frequency and time weighting combinations as if it were three sound level meters e.g. A/Slow, A/Fast, Z/Impulse.  It also uses the most modern A/D converters to measure > 110 dB dynamic range.  No more range settings.  It can store results as fast as every 2 msec.

The optional features include 1/1 Octave, 1/3 Octave, FFT, .wav recording, and RT 60.  Free PC software is available to archiving, post-processing, and reporting tasks.
